Urgent Appointments

We are dedicated to ensuring that patients presenting with medically urgent healthcare needs are able to access an appropriate clinician at the earliest opportunity. To support the delivery of this standard of care, our reception team are required to ask for a summary of your presenting complaint. This information is necessary to allow our clinical team to prioritise patients by medical urgency.

Same day appointments with a GP are offered initially by telephone triage. This allows the GP to effectively manage their own workload, maximising their capacity. Any patient who requires examination will be invited to attend the Practice by the assessing clinician within an appropriate time frame. The Practice also benefit from additional clinical support on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week, delivered by Health Board Advanced Nurse Practitioners. On these days, you may be offered an in-person same day appointment if appropriate.

We will always do our utmost to ensure all patients requiring same-day care are offered an appointment.

Routine Appointments

For the convenience of our patients, routine appointments are available by telephone or in-person.

With one of the biggest catchment areas in Forth Valley, we understand that some of our patients prefer to access healthcare remotely where possible and we do our best to accomodate this. However, please be advised that reception staff are unable to provide a time for telephone appointments. Our GPs work through a combination of medically urgent, routine in-person, routine telephone and house visit appointments each day and as such, routine telephone appointments are made where time allows.

Should you miss a telephone call from the GP, please do telephone reception as soon as possible and we will endeavour to connect you to the clinician if they are available. At least two attempts will be made by the GP to reach you by telephone, after which time you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.

We have increased the time allocated per routine appointment to 15 minutes and our team do their very best to ensure clinics run to time. With this in mind, there are instances where patients require more time than originally allocated and this can cause delays. We appreciate your patience and assure you that you will also be afforded the time that you require.

Where possible, please help us minimise delays by informing reception staff prior to booking if your appointment is to discuss something complex, or you are presenting with more than one medical complaint - a double appointment can be arranged where availability allows.
